I got this as a road trip machine so I don’t need to be dependent on Starbucks (if I’m lucky enough to be near one), my daily is a Lelit Bianca which is so much more satisfying to use it’s not really fair to compare them.I’m pretty sure this machine is the best you can get under $500 bucks and there’s not much else to even look at till you get to a Silvia which is double the cost.Put a 9psi spring in it and it pulls good shots all day long.Biggest drawbacks are the steam pressure and wand. There’s a YouTube trick where you start steaming before the light turns on the the heater stays on but seems like after all these years they could do something so you don’t need a trick. Without the trick, steaming 18oz of milk or more can run out of steam. Also the wand itself just spins on it’s axis instead of articulating which feels odd and can be hard to pull pitchers out from under. Also, it’s not a cool touch wand so it will burn milk onto itself and certain soy milks can be really hard to get off.

The espresso machine is great for the home barista and at a cheaper price point you get a lot! The build quality seems nice. the espresso shots are not great, but that’s likely user error. It does come with a couple of different options for shot size. One down side is the height between the espresso spout and the tray where you set the espresso cups is to short for a normal coffee cup. Another down side is the heating want doesn’t tilt, it only rotates. Overall really good espresso machine for the price!

only one issues it takes a good 3 to 5 mins to heat up for a shot, after steaming, not good when you need your coffee fast

Good machine but needs some upgrades to get perfect results, fortunately lots of help on YouTube. After a month still learning, I think in time I’ll get it perfect every time.

As with everyone else who discovers this machine through Reddit’s espresso community, I went down a rabbit hole of mods to improve the usability of this machine. Out of the box the accessories are passable but should be replaced as you’re able to. The vertical space between the portafilter and drip tray is limited to espresso cups or the shallowest of latte cups. After replacing them with a bottomless portafilter and low-height drip tray from another seller, I’m able to fit my latte cups and a scale without issue, and love the machine.

I have been using my Gaggia classic for about a month. I love the espresso quality that it is capable of, and I can imagine it would be better if I purchased a better grinder than my Breville. I almost returned it because it was choking on shots, but I realized that I had an excessively oily batch of beans that was not allowing water to flow freely enough. I will now list pros and cons.Pros:The blue finish looks amazing! The espresso tastes greatYou can fill water from the top or frontThe machine feels quality overallCons:The drip pan cover scratches easilyThe drip pan itself is cheap feelingThe portafilter handle feels cheap. Will upgrade!Overall, I’m happy with the purchase. I think Gaggia cut corners in the right places to save cost. You can, however, upgrade plastic parts on the huge market that supports this machine. Gaggia didn’t seem to cut corners on anything that truly matters. This machine is probably the best value out there. I would be happy to be proven wrong though.
