I was looking for an inexpensive alternative to our local Tully’s (who are wonderful!) to help save a little money for the new year. I had used an espresso machine about 12 years ago and I was clueless! So I didn’t want to fork out a ton and fail miserably again. I’ll be honest, I’m a little surprised by how good I’m doing! I only make Mocha’s so I threw out the rubber thing on the froth/steamer. I did use it the first time and it frothed great! Only I just wanted steamed milk so off it came, but if you are looking for froth it does the job. I had read on other machines that they needed to heat the milk first in the microwave then use the steamer…haven’t had to do that with this one. I bought a nifty cheap thermometer that clips on the side of the milk craft and I get it to 165 in no time at all. I’ve made 2 and 4 shots depending on whether I’m making one for my husband too. It’s very important to read the instructions!!! You MUST fill the water reservoir to max or you will get the burnt taste. That was my problem with my last machine, I didn’t do that I just put in how much I needed. Afterward I just use the extra to clean out the press and steamer of anything that might have got up there. It takes me roughly 3 mins prep (getting the milk, coffee, chocolate, cups etc ready) and about 5 mins to actually pull the espresso and steam the milk. A suggestion that made it go a bit faster for me is this; 1) when I start it I put the slider on steam but have the steamer closed. 2) After about 1-2 mins I flip it the strongest setting(my preference) on the extraction which makes it push threw pretty dang fast since it’s built up some pressure. 3)Once the shots are pulled I flip it back to steam and drop the wand in the milk and open up the steam! I found this shortened my actual “cooking” time.My only wish or complaint is I the steam wand could stand to be a little longer and flip up/down rather than left/right. It still works great though for me! Down the road if/when I wear this one out I might splurge on a fancier one, but for now I am very happy with this one! Also I will warn you now that I can make them at home, I drink WAY more of them than I use to!I’m a crazy review reader before I buy things so I really hope this helps someone decide whether to get or a different one! Happy Hunting!

My previous Capresso cappuccino machine had failed electrically after many years. This is the latest version of their lowest cost cappuccino machine, with many design changes. It has separate switches and controls, instead of a single combined switch/control, and the frother is now flexible rubber material instead of metal. It makes good cappuccinos—that’s good. But the frother arm often moves by itself while frothing. Why? No idea, and no way to prevent that. And it’s almost impossible to pour from the carafe without spilling, so I always pour over the kitchen sink. Again, why? The carafe of the old machine didn’t do that.Overall, it’s a good machine because it makes good cappuccinos, but its design flaws are annoying.

For the money this is an excellent machine for non-commericial use. My spouse is totally hooked on lattes. We usually make 2-20 ounce lattes at one time; although, we have made 3 sets of 2-20 ounce lattes back to back. The Capresso is fast. The espresso is flavorful and hot. The steamer quickly heats the milk to perfection and creates as little or as much froth as you prefer.During the last 20 years, we have had 6 or 7 different espresso machines ranging from $40.00 to $180.00 in price. This one which retails for $105.00 (we paid less on Amazon)is the best. It is easy to use and creates exceptionally good coffee drinks.A word of caution for any machine you purchase: READ the INSTRUCTIONS. The directions for each machine differ slighty. My caffeine addicted hubby overfilled the water chamber on a very expensive espresso/cappuccino machine and broke it.The Capresso 303.01 is the machine I would recommend to friends and family. We are extremely happy with this machine.UPDATE January 2012: We are still loving this machine. After at least twice a daily use (sometimes abuse), it is just starting to act a little tired. The carafe was replaced due to human error. Apparently glass breaks when dropped into a sink. (Amazon had the least expensive replacement.) The steamer is still going strong. Recently I have noticed that the espresso is not brewing quite as hot as it had been for the first 2+ years. Other than that our espresso machine is functioning well. When this machine finally dies, I plan to replace it with another 303.01. The price is currently at an all time low.UPDATE April 2016: We replaced our last Capresso 303.01 4-Cup Machine (RIP 02/2013-02/2016). There is a new version of the 303.01. IT IS GARBAGE! Please don’t waste your time and money. When this one was purchased in Mid-March, Amazon also had the original style 303.01 priced at $45 dollars more. I wasn’t working at the time, so we purchased the cheaper version. My wonderful spouse called Jura, the maker of this machine. They will replace the machine. As totally dependent pretentious caffeine snobs, we didn’t wait for a replacement, we purchased a totally different espresso machine. It is a ‘starter’ pump machine. So far we like it. FYI: My caffeine addicted hubby read the instructions before his first attempt with the new machine.

Café EspressoEs una buena cafetera, para mi le falta más presión, es muy lenta en colar la carga de café, me estoy adaptando a este modelo.

Throw away the rubbery frother and just use the steam pipe.An excellent replacement for my tired Braun. One thing, remove that rubbery brother and just use the frothing pipe.

Very hard to handle.Small amount of espresso for the amount of ground coffee. Mostly so hard to handle the top screw and the porta filter basket.
