I bought one of these because my 15 year old prosumer machine was in need of repair and I needed a backup for now and for any future failures of my main machine. This machine is modeled after the DeLonghi Dedica that runs about $100 or so dollars more. The steam wand that comes with this machine will be very adequate for frothing. It is much better than the panel wands that come on some of these machines. Being fairly experienced with these type of machines, it was not very difficult to start producing capuccinos. The basket/portafilter. THROW IT AWAY. Primarily the basket the comes with these priced machines is a ” pressurized ” basket. They are designed as a compromise to give you supposedly consistent extractions. What they give you are weak extractions ( they are too small for a double) and bubbly crema. Go out and buy a bottomless portafilter with a proper basket. It is a 51mm basket and you can buy one on Amazon for less than 30 bucks. For this machine, the wings have to be 4-5mm in thickness. Some portafilters have thicker wings and won’t fit this machine. It took me two tries to find a portafilter that fit. You will need a proper tamper. The one that comes with it is plastic junk. Once I got a proper portafilter, the quality of the extractions went up a LOT. However, even though the extraction pressure was ” in the zone “, I could never get an extraction to my liking. I think it was because the water wasn’t hot enough for a proper extraction. There is no temperature control, so you gotta take what you get. Maybe, if you turn on the steamer briefly before extracting a shot, you might get a few more degrees to get a better extraction, but I didn’t want to mess with it. In conclusion, with the above mods, this could be a fairly decent purchase for a starter machine. I don’t know how this machine will fare over time. I had it for a couple of weeks.

Received my MAttinata 20 bar espresso machine yesterday and tried it out immediately. Right out of the box, it made a perfect cup of espresso. If it continues to perform as hoped for, I’ll be very happy. Will update later.UPDATE:I’ve made quite a few cups of espresso since I received my Mattinata Espresso maker and have yet to be disappointed. Every cup is rich and flavorful. I love this espresso maker.

I’ve been in the market for a new Espresso machine and this one caught my attention. Unfortunately, it is manufactured in China, a major mark against it for me. However, my experience so far has been satisfactory!Easy setup and mostly well written directions. I highly suggest reading them first, follow them, and you can have your latte in less than 20 minutes. If you are into refining the factory settings for your buttons, once again, follow the instructions. Reading some of the other reviews, it appears that calling the help line is very beneficial also. The major plus is the price, lottsa value for the buck!

I like everything about it.

Item arrived without packing material in the product box. Item had been used … still milk residue in the machine. Item was damaged … dents & dings in the the stainless steel front. I could not be more disappointed. It is back in the box to be returned.THIS IS NOT HOW TO KEEP A CUSTOMER. Why are returns not fully examined before shipping to another customer?

I have been making all three beverages – latte, cappuccino, espresso – on this machine, and it does a great job making all of them, great results. I especially love the milk frother – just push a button, and it does it all (no designs though!) and it is nice, thick froth. It is a little louder than my old machine, but it definitely has more pressure. Seems like a good quality machine, and is certainly a good value when compared to similar machines. The only thing I don’t like about it is the tamper. Why equip a nice machine with a cheapy plastic tool? It isn’t the right size, and you can’t get enough pressure to fully express the grounds. A tamper should be solid/heavy metal and the appropriate size in order to get the best cup of coffee. Also, my old machine blasted a bit of air thru the nozzle after the liquid was done, which not only cleared the line but also resulted in a firm puck of coffee grounds (rather than a mushy mess) to easily dispose of. Wish this machine had that function.
